How to get the Most of the Intensive Program
DON’T LEARN FRENCH…
…Practice it!
When you learn, you set yourself up to expect to “know” and be done someday.
When you practice, you never stop improving yourself.This program cover our ENTIRE Accelerated Parisian French method over 19 modules, and give you all the vocabulary, grammar, reading, pronunciation and conversation needed in order to reach a strong intermediate to advanced level, as well as be able to learn on your own, without extra investments in classes, thereafter.
Each lesson addresses the following topics: reading, writing, grammar and pronunciation. Your homework is done with the aid of 5 video-lessons for each module. The video-lessons start with reading (I read first, then you have your time to read right after – please feel free to pause the video if you need more time), grammar (usually, the lessons contain a new verb conjugated or different French expressions, which I read, explain, then give you the time to write them in your notebook), exercises (the second part of the lesson feature phrases with blanks that you fill in with the new words, verbs or expressions), then a dictée (I read the text that we just worked on and you will write it down – I trust that you won’t take a peek!).
A note for the dictée: I consider this as an exercise for the ear, not a test of your knowledge. French language has a very structured set of rules of pronunciation and spelling, therefore, if you hear well, you’ll write well. The learning takes place AFTER the dictée is done, when you correct yourself. After writing the dictée, you have the text in front of you again (which you can pause on the video), and you will be your own teacher: LEARNING what mistakes you made, how often, consistent or accidental. This information is gold for your own self monitoring.
A note for reading: Do yourself a huge favor and find a quiet place where you can read out loud every word of these lessons. Better yet, find better roommates or change your family with a less judgmental one if you are not comfortable talking by yourself at home… OK, that was a joke.
In the end, the great advantage is that you can go over these video-lessons as many times as you need, whenever you need, without an imposed schedule. You will always have access to the video-lessons, meaning that, even after your program is completed, you can always go back to them and stretch your Parisian French muscle. At graduation, you will also receive the entire collection of video-lessons in an MP4 format.
